St.Joseph’s college started functioning in 2005 and Hindi dept was one of the first departments set up in the college. Hindi was offered as a common course (second language) for programmes like B.Com Computer Applications and BSW. Then, when courses like BA English, B Sc Mathematics, B.Com Co-operation, BCA, BBA were started, Hindi was offered as the second language. For each of these courses there is a different syllabus as fixed by the Hindi Board of Studies. BA and B.Sc students who choose Hindi language have to study it in the first four semesters. BSW, BCA, B Com, BBA have Hindi language in their first two semesters. There are two members on the faculty and they are Dr. Manikandhan N and Ms.Leena.A. The department always inspires students to score very good results in Hindi every year and also to excel in the University Youth Festival Hindi items.
