Vision
- To promote creative and critical thinking and interest in research among students of English literature through the study of literature, language and other cultural artifacts in order to equip them to negotiate the realities of life and existence with a sense of social justice.
Mission
- To provide exposure to students to identify, analyze, interpret and describe the critical ideas, values, and themes that appear in literary and cultural texts and understand the way these ideas, values, and themes inform and impact culture and society as ideological constructs in a multilingual society.
Objectives
- Foster knowledge and a deep understanding of the ideological operation of Languages and Literature with local emphasis and research aptitude.
- Facilitate students to understand the crucial role of critical thinking and reading and employ such modes of reading for insight into local, national and global realities with emphasis on social justice and marginality of all kinds.
- Provide exposure to other cultures and sub cultures across nations through literary and film discourses, translations, interactions and exchanges.
- Help students to become life-long learners.
