The Department of English was established with the inception of the college in 2005. Mr.Unnikrishnan Adiyodi and Prakasan.K joined the college as members of the faculty of English. The department of English started functioning in the college in 2008 offering only BA English initially. The growing demand for English Language and Literary studies in the region prompted the commencement of the MA English in the year 2015. The Department focuses on preparing the students in various ways to get tuned to the challenging curriculum that emphasises Literature in all of its dimensions.

         The members of the faculty in English are the part of a vibrant and enthusiastic group which is a very good blend of experience and youth. Each one of them makes it point to follow the recent developments in the field of English studies avidly. Mr.Prakasan. K had been the Head of the Department from 2009 to 2017, Miss. Dhanya KP in the period 2017 -18 and Mr.Viju Joseph for the academic year 2018-19. Miss Sajitha KTN took charge of the Department in 2019.

       The department of English formed a drama troupe called ‘The Playhouse’ in the year 2008 and the troupe staged plays consecutively in the Kannur University Arts Festival from 2008 to 2012. The department presented ‘Mindscape Literary Fest’ in consecutive years from 2016 to 2019. The Literary Fest earned hundreds of participants from various affiliated colleges under Kannur University. ‘Mindscape’ offered a sound platform for the students to rediscover their literary and artistic talents and hence it could boast of a thumbing success in all the years it was presented.
